DiLorenzos Secure Their Legacy and Support the NWC with a Charitable Gift Annuity

CAPT Len DiLorenzo, USNR (Ret.) and his wife Annmarie

CAPT Len DiLorenzo, USNR (Ret.) and his wife Annmarie have lived in Rhode Island for 40 years, with Len spending some of his time in the Navy on ships in the Narragansett Bay. Their close proximity to the Naval War College allowed the DiLorenzos to connect with the College, attending lectures in Spruance Hall, sponsoring international families, and participating in events such as the Current Strategy Forum (CSF). This first-hand experience with NWC students and the military leadership at CSF really resonated with the couple. “These young men and women demonstrate terrific leadership. They are bright, articulate, and imaginative. It makes you proud to be in the same room as them,” said Len.

Having attended Tufts University on a Naval ROTC scholarship, Len developed an early appreciation for giving back to institutions of higher education. So, post-retirement, when the opportunity arose to support the Naval War College through a planned gift, the DiLorenzos pursued it. Working with the NWCF, the DiLorenzos established a charitable gift annuity (CGA)—an option that allows donors to secure their own financial stability while ensuring support for their charitable interests. For the DiLorenzos the CGA was a win-win, providing them with a steady stream of income and providing the College with a generous financial gift.

For Len and Annmarie their gift is not just about the money, it is about making a lasting impact. “When you think of leaving a legacy, beyond raising and supporting your family, one thing you can do is support an organization that will do something meaningful with your charitable gift. The Naval War College is teaching the prevention of war, and that is so important for our future generations. The focus at the College on deterrence and collaboration is essential.”

With their gift the DiLorenzos have helped secure their legacy by advancing the mission of the Naval War College. We are grateful for their generosity.
